The addition is the opposite of subtraction, meaning if you take away numbers in subtraction, you add numbers together in addition just like what the name suggests. The addition is just like any other operations; it needs to start with the basics which is learning how to count from 1 to 10. When adding numbers below 10, it is considered to be the easiest or what we call level 1 in games. Now, why is it called the easiest? It’s because addition can be done with very simple steps. So, if you count that with your fingers or with paper in hand, the answer would be 13. There are other methods you can introduce to your students as well, such as adding their toys together or maybe devising a game for them.
An example of a game they can play that will help them understand addition better is giving them flashcards with pictures and figures in them. Ask them to add the 3 apples and 2 apples together or add 5 houses and 2 houses together, just any figure or shape you can think of, and guide them on how to add those together but make sure the numbers are not too big.
