Three digit addition basketball game online
In any operation, the first stage was to start with single-digit numbers and you take one step at a time. There will be a certain time when you will have to add three-digit numbers where carrying numbers to the next column is necessary.
Carrying numbers is done when a number being added in one column has two place values, the number on the tens column will have to be carried to the next column. Let’s have an example, 197 + 123 = ?
In this example, the numbers on the very right of each number are the numbers with the place value of ones, the numbers in the middle of the numbers next to the ones place value has a tens place value, and lastly, the numbers on the very left are the numbers with the place value of hundreds.
To start adding those numbers together, we must put them in a position for vertical subtraction. After doing so, we proceed with the addition process, starting from right to left.
The numbers on the place value of ones are 7 and 3, when we add those two numbers together we will have 10. As mentioned previously, if the answer to one column has two place values then the number on the tens value will be carried to the next column. In number 10, the number on the tens value is 1, therefore we have to carry it to the next column.
The next column has the tens place value, the numbers on this column are 9 and 2 which will give us the answer of 11 plus the number that we carried from the previous column, unlike borrowing in subtraction the number carried to the next column will only have the value of 1 instead of 10, hence we will have the answer of 12 for this column. We then have to carry the number on the tens value from 12 to the next column. The numbers on the last column, which is the hundreds column, are both 1. We add those two numbers together and add the number that was carried from the previous column and we will have the answer of 3. Therefore, the sum of 197 + 123 is 320.
