Why say two-fourths (2/4) when we can say one-half (1/2) ?
Simplifying (or reducing) fractions means to make the fraction as simple as possible (or the lowest possible number) by dividing the numerator and denominator by a similar factor of these numbers that are both divisible to them.
For example:
The factors of 10 are 1,2,5,10; The factors of 35 are 1,5,7,35.
So the similar number that both 10 and 35 are divisible is 5.
