Order of operations, wheel of fortune game online - Today we are playing the Order of operations game.
We will be learning how to solve multiple operations in one equation today.
Have you ever seen something like this before?
20 + (8-3) x 2
How would you solve this the right way and what will be the answer?
This is where the
PEMDAS comes in. It stands for Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication, and Division (from left to right), Addition and Subtraction (from left to right)
Or BODMAS Bracket, Order, Division, Multiplication, Addition, and Subtraction.
Solving from left to right is also important to take note of because it will affect the whole equation if done incorrectly.
To solve the equation above, here's the solution:
First, we complete the operation in the parenthesis: 8 – 3 = 5.
From here, we have: 20 + 5 x 2.
Now we multiply: 5 x 2 = 10.
And finally we add: 20 + 10 = 26.
Now that I've told you how to solve multiple operations in one expression/equation, it's time to play!
This activity can be used in the classroom, during free time, or tutorial sessions. Recommended for children from 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th grades for a fun and exciting way to learn and practice order of operations.
